PRENATAL CARE

During the course of your pregnancy we will meet together often to care for you and your growing baby.  Our visits will be opportunities for us to get to know one another, assess the well-being of you and your baby, monitor the physical milestones of pregnancy, discuss your emotional health and prepare to meet your little one.  Prenatal visits take place in your home and typically last 30-60 minutes.  As we work together in your home environment we will feel prepared to welcome your baby together in the space we have already shared.

FIRST PRENATAL VISIT

Your first prenatal visit occurs 11-12 weeks after your last menstrual period.  This is a very special visit where you will be able to hear your baby’s heartbeat for the first time.  If you are uncertain about the dating of your pregnancy or if you desire first-trimester genetic screening, you will want to schedule your first visit between 8-10 weeks after your last menstrual period.

Once you schedule your first prenatal visit you will be sent instructions to fill out a secure intake form.  We will review this together on your first visit.

FOLLOW-UP PRENATAL VISITS, SECOND TRIMESTER

At each prenatal visit following the first, we will continue to get to know one another as we monitor you and your baby and prepare for your home birth.

FOLLOW-UP PRENATAL VISITS,
THIRD TRIMESTER

During the final trimester of pregnancy, we will meet together more frequently, every 2-3 weeks until 36 weeks then every 7-10 days until your baby arrives.   Between 26-28 weeks gestation, we will screen for gestational diabetes and anemia.  Between 36-37 weeks gestation, we will screen for GBS.
